At Mary Lee’s suggestion, on October 28th we decided to hold our regular weekly meeting at Applebee’s located at1451 Richmond Avenue 10314.
During the month of October, Applebee’s is donating 20% of its sales every Tuesday to the St. George Theatre’s Outreach Programs.
Our guest speaker this week is Alex Zablocki, New York City Regional Lead, Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery.

Kevin Elkins from the Department of Public Affairs from the Office of NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer spoke to the Rotary. He discussed the work of the NYC Comptroller's office, from overseeing pension funds, to the offices work as chief fiscal officer.

David Del Monte was installed as the new district governor for Rotary District 7230 on June 22, 2014 at the Larchmont Yacht Club in Larchmont (NY). All the new presidents, assistant governors and district officers were installed as well. 














Rotary Fundraiser



The Rotary Club of Staten Island will be holding a drawing on December 16, 2014 for a 1966 Corvette Convertible. This car is equipped with it's original 327/300 horsepower engine with matching numbers and 4 speed M21 trans. Tickets are $100 each. All money will benefit Sandy victims.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Michael K. Behar and Joseph R. Marchese were honored by the Rotary Club of Staten Island with the Paul Harris Award at the group's annual charter night on Friday at the Richmond County Country Club on Todt Hill.
The event also marked the 93rd birthday of the club.

The Paul Harris Award is presented to Rotarians and community members who have demonstrated "service above self," the Rotary motto. It's the highest award presented by Rotary Clubs worldwide.
The awards were presented to Marchese and Behar by Rep. Michael Grimm, who also honored them with a congressional certificate.

Behar, president of Tappen Park Associates, Inc., has a varied and diverse background in business and real estate development. His career spans over 37 year in the entertainment, import/export, retail/wholesale and real estate industries.

In addition to being a member of the Rotary Club of Staten Island since 2003, Behar has served as president and on its Board of Trustees.
He has also served on many committees and boards serving the community, including as founder and chairman of the Downtown Staten Island Council; trustee, Staten Island Museum; advisory board member and member of the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer's Foundation of Staten Island; member of the Board of Directors of the Staten Island Mental Health Society; advisory board member of SCORE and many more.
He was the recipient of the Louis R. Miller Business Leadership Award in 2005.

Marchese, president of Financial Planning Concepts of America, has been an investment adviser and certified financial planner for more than 20 years. He holds a bachelor of science, summa cum laude, in economics from Baruch College, a master's degree from Columbia University, and has completed more than six years of doctoral work. Most of his doctoral dissertation for a Ph.D. is in social psychology.

Marchese has served as president of the Rotary Club of Staten Island and as a board member. He has been a member of the Rotary Club since 2005. He has served as a board member and treasurer of the Staten Island Children's Museum; board member and fundraiser for the YMCA of Staten Island; the Investment Committee for the YMCA of Greater New York and on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer's Foundation of Staten Island.
He will be the assistant governor for Rotary District 7230 beginning July 1. He is a member of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce and has served on a number of fundraising committees for Staten Island non-profits including the Staten Island Historical Society, Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, and Eger Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

The Rotary Club of Staten Island was organized under the sponsorship of the New York Club in 1921. In 1962, the club became incorporated and established its own charitable foundation known as the Staten Island Rotary Foundation.
